Michael Anthony's, a waterfront restaurant specializing in fine Italian dining and catering, currently under construction at the Marina Pier. The restaurant will feature an elegant dinner menu; catering for weddings and special events, including receptions, reunions, parties, and business events, a waterfront bar; and casual daytime dining.
Jersey City restaurateur, Michael Ryan, brings ten years of experience in successful local restaurants to his latest venture. "Our plan for Michael Anthony's is to produce a waterfront restaurant and catering facility with upscale decor, spectacular views, delectable cuisine, live and engaging entertainment, and , above all, a world class dining experience," said Mr Ryan.

The restaurant will be located in the building at the end of the Marina Pier, which housed a restaurant several years ago. The building has been completely gutted; and the new interior will include a modern ship's hull, which will be the foundation for a unique bar that spans inside and out of the restaurant. According to Mr Ryan, the goal is to create "An open feeling, airy and fresh dining whether inside or outside. Open able Windows, Art Deco Fans, Waterwalls, Fish Tanks, Ship Sails, all will give the feeling of a Modern Nautical Dining Experience.
The menu will include classic Italian fare, such as bruschetta, cheese fondue, papperdelle bolognese, home-made gnocchi, and a wide variety of red, white and dessert wines.
The patio overlooking the Newport Marina and the Hudson River will feature an open able enclosure making it available for year round dining. "The trendy decor, menu, and ideal waterfront location will make this a hot spot for the younger, hipper crowd," said Newport's Meredith Newman. "With the spectacular view and great food it will be the place to go to relax and socialize."
In addition to the regular dining, the restaurant will feature a catering facility capable of handling weddings or events up to 200 people.
"Our catering area will be one of a kind for Jersey City, a destination place, as close to a dinner cruise one can get, without setting sail", commented Mr Ryan.
Michael Anthony's is expected to open in early spring 2009.
